The law is one of the fundamental tools used by the colonial system to legitimize and exercise violence against the peoples of the global south. The invasion of the territories of the Congo, the murder and dismemberment of Tupac Amaru II, the lethal mining extraction in Abya Yala, as well as the deportation processes of migrants in Europe have always been legal, and have always had protocols, norms and regulations.

The Rule of Law examines how the law has served as a tool of the colonial system, how paternalism has been an essential pillar of white supremacy, and how independent nation states have meant a continuation of the colonial order for peoples in resistance.
