WALTER

The Playground tells the story of Walter, a child of migrant origin who had an accident while playing in the park near his home in Cantabria. After being taken to the hospital by his parents, Walter was separated from them when he was accused of mistreatment by the Spanish medical staff and Social Services, who used racist legal arguments to legitimize Walter's confinement in a juvenile center and then given up for adoption to a white family.

Walter explains how institutional racism in the Spanish context has created a legal system that facilitates the separation of migrant minors from their families using classist, racist and patriarchal conceptions.
